Chinese President Hu Jintao Sends a Message of Condolences to Jordanian King Abdullah II over the Terrorist Attack in Amman, Capital of Jordan

On the evening of November 9, after learning that the terrorist attack in Amman, capital of Jordan, caused heavy casualties including members of a visiting delegation from China's University of National Defense, Chinese President Hu Jintao, who was on a state visit to the United Kingdom (UK), immediately instructed the Chinese Foreign Ministry and departments concerned to conduct verification and spare no efforts to rescue the injured Chinese and properly handle related matters.

At the same time, Hu sent a message to Jordanian King Abdullah II to express profound condolences to the unfortunate victims in this incident and sincere solicitude to the injured and families of the victims on behalf of the Chinese government and people and in his own name.

Hu strongly condemned this terrorist attack incident, reaffirming that the Chinese government resolutely opposes all forms of terrorism and would like to work with the international community including Jordan to strengthen cooperation in counter-terrorism and jointly combat terrorism.

On the evening of the same day, Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing, who was accompanying President Hu on the visit to the UK, also sent a message of condolences to his Jordanian counterpart Farouq Qasrawi.
